Welcome to The AI Literacy Shop blog

If you teach middle school and you’ve ever stared at a student’s ChatGPT-written essay and thought “now what?” — this blog is for you.

I’m building The AI Literacy Shop to fill a gap I kept hitting myself: there’s plenty of free AI literacy content out there, but almost none of it is mapped to the standards I actually have to teach to. ISTE 1.3.d. CCSS literacy strands. The AI4K12 Five Big Ideas. I needed lessons that would survive an admin walk-through, and I couldn’t find them. So I started building them.

What this blog will be

Three kinds of posts, roughly:

  1. Free lesson plans. One per month, downloadable as a PDF. Same quality as what’s in the TPT shop — just on the house. The first one (“AI Literacy Starter Pack — Grade 7”) is already live on the Free Resources page.
  2. Classroom notes. Short observations from teachers actually using these lessons. What worked. What flopped. What students asked that surprised us.
  3. The “why” behind a lesson. When I publish a new product on TPT, I’ll write up the standards-alignment reasoning here. So you can see the work, not just the output.

What this blog won’t be

It won’t be hot takes about whether AI is good or bad. It won’t be tool reviews (“the 12 best AI tools for teachers!”). And it won’t be SEO-padded 2,500-word listicles. Those waste your time and mine.

How to keep in touch

The newsletter is the canonical channel. One email a month. New free resources, new blog posts, and the occasional behind-the-scenes note about what’s coming next on TPT. Sign up here — you’ll get the Starter Pack as a thank-you.

Welcome aboard. Let’s teach this thing properly.
