Welcome to The AI Literacy Shop blog

Torn paper note cards fanned in coral, green, and off-white with mustard tape on cream — a welcoming Field Notes spread for The AI Literacy Shop blog

If you teach middle school and you’ve ever stared at a student’s ChatGPT-written essay and thought “now what?” — this blog is for you.

The AI Literacy Shop is a small independent curriculum studio. We design standards-aligned printable lessons for grade 6-12 teachers full-time — and we publish notes here on the reasoning behind each lesson. There is plenty of free AI literacy content out there, but almost none of it cites a specific standard verbatim. ISTE 1.3.d. CCSS literacy strands. The AI4K12 Five Big Ideas. Lessons that survive an admin walk-through have to do that, and most published material doesn’t. So we build the kind that does.

What this blog will be

Three kinds of posts, roughly:

  1. Free lesson plans. Downloadable as a PDF. Same quality as what’s in the TPT shop — just on the house. The first one (“AI Literacy Starter Pack — Grade 7”) is already live on the Free Resources page.
  2. Standards crosswalks. Short notes on how a specific lesson maps to ISTE / CCSS / AI4K12, with the exact verbatim text of each cited standard.
  3. The “why” behind a lesson. When we publish a new product on TPT, we write up the standards-alignment reasoning here. So you can see the work, not just the output.

What this blog won’t be

It won’t be hot takes about whether AI is good or bad. It won’t be tool reviews (“the 12 best AI tools for teachers!”). And it won’t be SEO-padded 2,500-word listicles. Those waste your time and ours.

How to keep in touch

The newsletter is the canonical channel. A short daily note from Maya — the editorial voice of The AI Literacy Shop — drafted with AI assistance and reviewed by a former classroom teacher before every send. New free resources, new field notes, and the occasional behind-the-scenes note about what’s coming next on TPT. Sign up here — you’ll get the Starter Pack immediately, plus the daily notes. Prefer once a week? Reply “weekly” to your first email.

Welcome aboard.
